Servings: 10
Prep Time: 10mins
Cook Time: 1/2 hr
Ingredients
1 lb Turkey - Ground, thawed
1 can Beans - Kidney (Canned)
1 medium jar Tomato Sauce - Canned
about 1/2 jar Salsa
1/2 can Olives - Black, sliced or halved
1 packet, or seasoning to taste Seasoning - Chili Powder
2 medium cans Tomatoes - Canned (Diced), diced
1 can Beans - Refried (Canned)
1 medium one Onions - White, chopped
1 can Beans - White (Canned)
Cooking Directions
Note: you might want to shop for some of the lower sodium canned products if you are on a low salt diet, as some of the canned stuff is pretty high in sodium. I usually rinse off my beans before adding them)
Preparation: chop the medium onion
slice or half half the can of olives
open all of your cans
In the bottom of a large, deep pan, or in a regular frying pan brown the package of ground turkey and the onions together. Once cooked, you can drain if you like, or just transfer everything to a LARGE sauce pan. Add the two cans of diced tomatoes, the refried beans, the olives, the kidney beans and the white beans. (you can add more beans if you want) (all of the thicker stuff first) Then pour in about a half of a jar of mild (or hot if u want) salsa, and about half of the jar of spaghetti sauce. You can also add the chili seasoning packet now. I think its a personal preference as to how thick you like your chili, so you can continue to add the salsa/spaghetti sauce to loosen it up if you'd like.
Let everything simmer for about 15 mins, stirring occasionally. Serve hot in bowls, over rice, or with tortilla chips (add some shredded cheddar cheese on top if you want);-)
*it freezes well (to pull out another night for dinner)
