Hawaiian Macaroni Salad

Ingredients
1/4 cup Carrots, grated
to taste Seasoning - Salt
to taste Seasoning - Black Pepper
1/4 Cup Milk
3 Cups Pasta - Macaroni
1 Cup Mayonnaise

Cooking Directions


1. Cook macaroni until tender (8-9 minutes), drain and rinse with cold water.

2. Add grated carrots, mayonnaise, and milk till well coated. Salt & Pepper to taste. Use more mayonnaise if needed.

3. Chill in refrigerator, when ready to serve you may want to add more mayonnaise.

4. Tip: get creative and consider adding ham, peas, boiled eggs or tuna!

I wouldn't add either pineapples or coconuts. To me it would destroy the taste of the Mac salad. But grated Maui Sweet Onions and or slice black olives are popular and common additions.

@deathrowjoe - It's not that this Hawaiian Macaroni Salad is Hawaiian because it has a pineapple or coconut in it. This is just the way they make Macaroni Salad in Hawaii. Sometimes referred to as Hawaiian Mac Salad, it's delicious and easy.

i don't know what makes this Hawaiian??????I myself added pineapple that would make this more Hawaiian.Are carrots from Hawaii???

I added green peppers, shredded boiled eggs, sliced black olives and about a 1/4 tsp of red pepper flakes to give it some bite. I've not thought about adding milk - makes the mayo much lighter
