Ingredients
1 teaspoon Seasoning - Salt
2 Eggs
2 1/2 Cups Flour - All Purpose
For Garnish Sugar - Confectioners
1 1/2 Cups Sugar - White
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1 1/2 Cups Vegetable Oil
1 Teaspoon Vinegar - White Distilled
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Tablespoon Cocoa Powder
1 Cup Buttermilk
2 Tablespoons Food Coloring - Red

Cooking Directions


1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter and flour a 12-inch round cake pan.

2. In a large bowl, whisk the flour with the sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.

3. In a medium bowl, whisk the oil with the buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vinegar and vanilla.

4. Whisk the liquid ingredients into the flour mixture.

5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40 minutes. Transfer the cake to a rack and let it cool completely in the pan, 2 hours.

6. Slice the cake into 12 wedges and dust with confectioners' sugar. If preferred, serve with ice cream or frost with cream cheese frosting.
